H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and the Italian Ambassador Sign Mutual Letters to Extend the 3rd Tranche of the Debt Swap Program for Development until December 2024
The debt swap program for development between Egypt and Italy is a unique model for development cooperation at the bilateral level, in which two successful phases were implemented where many projects were implemented in various priority sectors. A number of development projects are being implemented in various fields such as the environment, agriculture, nutrition, education, cultural heritage and civil society to contribute significantly to achieving the SDGs.

(Qena -10-11 May 2023) Representatives of the Ministry of International Cooperation, the UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt, Mr. Alessandro Fracassetti, and the Director of the Egypt Network for Integrated Development (ENID) Dr. Heba Handoussa welcomed development partners to Qena for a 2-day field visit to celebrate the signature and commencement of the new project “Egypt Network for Integrated Development (ENID) - Expanded interventions (2023-2027) in support of Hayah Karima”

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, said that the successive crises that the world is going through, starting with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian war, the supply chain challenges, and the significant increase in the cost of financing; all reflects the importance of strengthening the resilience of countries, institutions, and even individuals and families. H.E. pointed out that resilience enhances the ability to absorb shocks, recovery, and bring about structural transformation that enables for a better way to deal with uncertainty in the long term, in addition to finding innovative solutions to crises, according to the definition of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and co-chair of the Steering Committee of the UNSDCF between Egypt and the United Nations, said that the signing of the new partnership framework for 2023-2027 ushers in a new strategic phase in joint cooperation relations with one of the largest and most important international organizations, the United Nations. The Minister expressed appreciation to H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, for his honor and presence at the event, which represents the second celebration during the same week within the framework of launching development cooperation strategies.

The South Helwan Power Station project won the Abdul Latif Youssef Al-Hamad Development Award in the Arab region during the 2023 joint annual meetings of Arab financial institutions held in Rabat, Morocco. This was presented by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) in a competition with 11 projects. It was nominated for the award, including two projects from Egypt and 9 projects from Jordan, Sudan, Djibouti, Somalia, Mauritania and Yemen, in addition to a project implemented at the regional level.
