Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Meets with the JICA during H.E.’s Participation in the Spring Meeting in Washington
At the beginning of her participation in the spring meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank, met with several representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA):Mr. Hideki Matsunaga, Advisor to the Middle East and Europe Department and Chief Representative of the Ukraine Office, Mr. Kei Toyama, General Manager of JICA for the Middle East and Europe, and Mr. Takanori Morishima, Senior Deputy Director of the Middle East and Europe Department.

During the World Bank & IMF Spring Meetings H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation Holds Meetings with World Bank Group Directors
The Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank Group H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, held bilateral meetings with Abdulaziz Al-Mulla, Executive Director of the World Bank Group; Indermit Gill, Chief Economist of the World Bank Group and Senior Vice President for Development Economics; and Ousmane Dione, Vice President of the World Bank Group for the Middle East and North Africa, in the presence of Ambassador Hisham Seif El-Din, Alternate Executive Director for Egypt at the World Bank, within the activities of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, held in Washington, D.C., from April 15 to 20.

Today, April 14th, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank Group, begins her meetings in Washington D.C, where H.E. is participating in the 2024 World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) 2024 Spring Meetings from April 15 to 20, discussing how to address global challenges in terms of increasing the necessary financing solutions, encouraging private sector investments, and enhancing the ability to address future shocks.

Within the framework of continuing joint efforts with development partners and the private sector to support the environment of entrepreneurship and innovation, and joint Egyptian-Dutch relations, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, witnessed the graduation of 20 startup companies within the sixth batch of the “Orange Corners” program to support startups and entrepreneurship in Upper Egypt, bringing the total number of companies in the six cycles of the program to 116 companies.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, received Dr. Patrick Jean Guillabert, Regional Director and Representative of the Regional Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Egypt, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. This was in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Rizk, Deputy Representative of the Regional Office, and several others to discuss joint cooperation relations with UNIDO in many fields related to industrial development and green industries, as well as the ongoing cooperation portfolio.

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Within the framework of the Egyptian-European partnership, the signing of the joint declaration to upgrade relations between the two sides, and the visit of the Italian Prime Minister to Egypt as part of a high-level European delegation, Egyptian-Italian relations have unlocked new opportunities. A number of joint agreements were signed between the two sides, and the new offices of the Italian Embassy in Cairo were opened. It includes offices of the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Development Bank, the Italian Loan and Deposit Fund, the Servizi Assicurativi del Commercio Estero (SACE - Italian Export Credit Agency) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Support and Financing Authority, within the framework of the strategic relations between the Egyptian and Italian sides and joint efforts to empower the private sector.

The Ministry of International Cooperation revealed the most prominent results of the development cooperation programs and projects that were implemented during the year 2023 under the umbrella of the Egypt and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023 - 2027. This took place during the Inaugural Joint Steering Committee Meeting, which was held yesterday, headed by H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Elena Panova, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt.

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank Group, announced that within the framework of the Bank’s commitment to the long-term strategic partnership with Egypt, and in implementation of efforts to support economic reform measures taken by the country to achieve economic recovery and comprehensive and sustainable growth, the World Bank Group intends to provide $6 billion in financing over the next three years, $3 billion to support the economic reform program implemented by the government, and $3 billion to empower the private sector.
