The Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank Group (WBG) H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, delivered the speech of the Arab Republic of Egypt, at the G-24 Ministers and Governors Meeting, which witnessed the participation of Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and David Malpass, President of the World Bank Group (WBG), and members of the G-24 from Africa, Asia and Latin America and representatives of the IMF and WBG.

Under the theme “The Way Forward: Building Resilience and Reshaping Development,” the 2023 WBG & IMF Spring Meetings will begin today, Monday, in Washington, DC, with the participation of H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the WBG. H.E. is scheduled to speak at a number of events and discussion sessions, and to hold a number of bilateral meetings with multilateral and bilateral development partners.

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning (INP), held a Multi-Stakeholder Platform meeting with multilateral and bilateral development partners, to discuss partnerships with international institutions in light of strengthening INP’s role in research studies, consulting, training and vocational and academic training, as well as planning and development, with the participation of Elena Panova, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, representatives of the World Bank Group (WBG), FAO, UNESCO, UNDP, USAID, UNICEF, UN Women and a number of representatives from embassies and other international organizations.

In its plenary session, the House of Representatives approved the second amendment on the comprehensive economic governance grant agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America at a value of $26.9 million. H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, said that green transformation and climate action are no longer new concepts, but have rather become entrenched in the goals, strategies and visions of different countries, as well as institutions from the government and private sectors, explaining that Egypt's COP27 presidency reinforced this concept in country.
