H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, has departed Cairo for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to chair the 7th session of the Egyptian-Uzbek Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, on behalf of Egypt. The session will be co-chaired by Mr. Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.
The committee's agenda includes the Egyptian-Uzbek Business Forum, where businessmen from both countries will discuss ways to increase economic cooperation through the private sector, explore areas of mutual interest, and present investment opportunities in various sectors including pharmaceuticals, construction, food industries, tourism, technology, and logistics services.
Earlier this week, expert meetings began under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, with participation from the Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Electricity and Renewable Energy, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, along with major pharmaceutical companies such as "Academa" from Egypt. Uzbekistan's representatives from Ministries of Investment, Industry and Trade, Culture, Transport, Energy, Higher Education, Tourism, and Pharmaceuticals also participated.
The Egyptian-Uzbek Joint Committee underscores Egypt's commitment to strengthening relations with friendly nations across various fields. It has not convened since 2009. This session follows H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Uzbekistan in 2018, reflecting Egypt’s growing interest in Central Asia, with Uzbekistan at the heart of the region.
The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation oversees 54 joint committees between Egypt and other countries, including 30 European committees, playing a pivotal role in enhancing Egypt’s bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
