Within the framework of the Egyptian-European strategic partnership and the strategic relations between the two sides, there is a new beginning for joint Egyptian-Italian relations
Within the framework of the Egyptian-European partnership, the signing of the joint declaration to upgrade relations between the two sides, and the visit of the Italian Prime Minister to Egypt as part of a high-level European delegation, Egyptian-Italian relations have unlocked new opportunities. A number of joint agreements were signed between the two sides, and the new offices of the Italian Embassy in Cairo were opened. It includes offices of the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Development Bank, the Italian Loan and Deposit Fund, the Servizi Assicurativi del Commercio Estero (SACE - Italian Export Credit Agency) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Support and Financing Authority, within the framework of the strategic relations between the Egyptian and Italian sides and joint efforts to empower the private sector.

The Ministry of International Cooperation revealed the most prominent results of the development cooperation programs and projects that were implemented during the year 2023 under the umbrella of the Egypt and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023 - 2027. This took place during the Inaugural Joint Steering Committee Meeting, which was held yesterday, headed by H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Elena Panova, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt.

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank Group, announced that within the framework of the Bank’s commitment to the long-term strategic partnership with Egypt, and in implementation of efforts to support economic reform measures taken by the country to achieve economic recovery and comprehensive and sustainable growth, the World Bank Group intends to provide $6 billion in financing over the next three years, $3 billion to support the economic reform program implemented by the government, and $3 billion to empower the private sector.

In order to enhance efforts to transition to a green and sustainable economy in Egypt and implement the Green Cities Programme, which comes within the framework of cooperation between the government and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the bank, in cooperation with the government, launched the plan to transform 6th of October City into a green city. The plan is scheduled to be implemented by the relevant government agencies and the 6th of October City Authority in cooperation with the EBRD.

In its plenary session yesterday, the House of Representatives approved Presidential Resolution No. 24 of 2024 regarding the exchange of letters regarding financing the smart energy project within the energy pillar of the national platform of the “NWFE” program, through concessional development financing worth €54 million from the German side, of which €3 million grant, in implementation of the joint statement issued in November 2023, with the participation of 20 development partners, international financial institutions and international alliances, as well as the joint political declaration issued during the COP27 climate conference, between Egypt, Germany and the United States of America, in which the two countries pledged to provide support and assistance to Egypt’s efforts in the green transition and a just transition towards renewable energy.
