Selection of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat as Minister of International Cooperation to the Global Leaders' Council of the United Nations Initiative “Generation Unlimited”

Dr. Kevin Frey, Executive Director of the United Nations Global Initiative (Generation Unlimited), announced the selection of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, as part of the Global Council of Leaders of the Initiative, which brings together many decision makers and global economic leaders to support efforts through the Initiative to empower youth and mobilize resources for the implementation of the Initiative.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Ms. Elena Panova, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Office in Egypt, chaired the first meeting of the Advisory Board of the Initiative Shabab Balad / "Youth of a country", Egyptian version of the United Nations "Generation Unlimited", in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and members of the Council, as part of COP27, being held from 6 November until 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt,

Today at the Egyptian Pavilion at the COP27 Climate Conference in Sharm El-Sheik: Egypt signs partnership agreements and letters of intent with international financial institutions and development partners to support the National Platform for Green Projects "NWFE" program, a nexus of water, food & energy.

In the light of COP27, being held from 6 November until 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and in the presence of leaders and heads of state, United Nations organizations and international institutions, The Government of Egypt signed partnership agreements and letters of intent with international financial institutions and multilateral and bilateral development partners to mobilize concessional development financing, technical support and private sector investments to implement the National Platform for Green Projects "NWFE" programme.

A Coordination Meeting with the EBRD, USA & EU Was Held on Mobilizing Financing for the NWFE Program

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud Basso held a coordination meeting with multilateral and bilateral development partners and international institutions on the country platform for the NWFE Program’s energy pillar.

The Ministry of International Cooperation Announces List of Finalists in the ClimaTech Run Competition to Participate in COP27

The Ministry of International Cooperation announced the shortlist of the startups that qualified for the finals in the ClimaTech Run 2022 competition, which will be participating in COP27’s Youth Day, held in Sharm El-Sheikh.

During Next Week’s COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh: Signing a number of low-cost sustainable green financing to stimulate private sector engagement with joint investments and a blended finance approach, all within the framework of the country platform for the NWFE Program.

In light of Egypt’s COP27 Presidency, and in line with the Government of Egypt’s commitment to increase cooperation with multilateral and bilateral partners, the Ministry of International Cooperation announced 3 main activities during the upcoming climate conference to promote joint action and advance comprehensive and sustainable development efforts within the country.

Ahead of the Final Preparations for COP27: High International & Regional Turnout for the ClimaTech Run 2022: A Competition for Startups & Digital Artists

The ClimaTech Run 2022 competition, launched by the Ministry of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, along with development partners and the private sector. The launch witnessed a high turnout by international and regional startups working in the field of climate technology, as well as digital artists, all in preparation of the COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Al-Mashat participated in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the NDC Partnership on “Greening the Financial Sector: Needs and opportunities of developing countries and the role of development co-operation”, which was held within the framework of the 2022 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) & the WBG in Washington.
