The First Follow-up Report of the NWFE program: $3.2 billion in Total Financial Pledges from Development Partners to Implement the Components of the Energy pillar.

The first follow-up report of the NWFE program, launched by the Ministry of International Cooperation, on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the launch of the NWFE program, the link between water, food and energy projects, revealed that the total financial pledges from multilateral and bilateral development partners to implement the components of the energy pillar amounted to about $3.2 billion over the course of a year of joint work.

The Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, gave the opening speech during the high-level roundtable for the launch of the 1st NWFE program report Titled “A Year of Implementation.”

The Launch of the High-level Roundtable of the NWFE program, Titled “A Year of Implementation,” in the Presence of the Prime Minister, with an Extensive International Presence of Development Partners and Heads of International Financial Institutions.

Today, the high-level roundtable of the NWFE program, titled “A Year of Implementation,” in the presence of H.E. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and organized by the Ministry of International Cooperation was launched, on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the NWFE program. The roundtable was to monitor the progress achieved in implementing the program’s projects at the level of water, food, energy and sustainable transport pillars.

Al-Mashat and the President of Afreximbank, Benedict Oramah, Launched the Electronic Platform EPC During the Activities of the Third Edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair, Held Under the Patronage of H.E. The third edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair was held in Cairo under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, where the Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania A. The Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, and the Minister of Civil Aviation, Lieutenant General Mohamed Abbas Helmy, held a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of International Cooperation in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of the teams and officials of the two ministries, in light of coordination between the two ministries to discuss ways to enhance international partnerships to support the Egyptian state’s vision to develop and increase the capacity of Egyptian airports as well as developing the areas surrounding airports in a way that enhances investments and supports the development vision in the country.

The Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, held a high-level consultative session to discuss the new expansions in the projects of the Egypt Network for Integrated Development (ENID) for the period from 2022-2026, in the villages of the Presidential Initiative for the Development of the Egyptian Rural Development “Hayah Karima”, with the participation of the Director Assistant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Administrator of the United Nations Capital Development Fund, Dr. Mourad Wahba, Resident Representative of the UNDP in Egypt, Alessandro Fracassetti, Representative of UN Women in Egypt Christine Arab, Executive Director of the ENID Al-Nidaa Foundation and ENID Director, Dr. Heba Handoussa alongside with representatives of the World Food Programme, the International Labor Organization (ILO), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Embassy of Canada, AlexBank, the American University in Cairo, L'Oréal, Raya Holding, Tetra Pak, and Qalaa Holdings, also participated in the meeting and the Ministry of International Cooperation’s team.

The Ministry of International Cooperation Announces the List of Startups that Qualified for the Finals in the 2nd Edition of the Global ClimaTech Run2023 Competition in Partnership with the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology and the Environment, International Institutions and the Private Sector

The Ministry of International Cooperation announced the details of the second edition of the Global ClimaTech Run2023 competition, where the first edition was launched within the framework of Egypt’s hosting of COP27 in 2022. The competition aims to stimulate startup companies working in the field of climate action technology from various countries of the world, in partnership with the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology, and the Environment, along with development partners; UNDP, USAID, Microsoft, and the World Bank Group. The second edition of the international competition comes within the framework of preparations for COP28 in the United Arab Emirates

Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat Meets Officials from the Economic Development Co-operation Fund (EDCF) Evaluation Office of the Export-Import Bank of Korea (EXIM Bank) on Enhancing Joint Cooperation.

Within the framework of strengthening cooperative relations with Korea and in light of following up on the status of the implemented projects, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, held a meeting with the Director General of the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund responsible for Africa, and a representative of the Export Bank. During the meeting, they noted a representative for Egypt was also appointed to start work next year, working to follow up on the position of the currently implemented projects. They also discussed the achievements to date and their continued progress, as well as future ways of cooperation between Egypt and the Korean Bank in various fields.

During the Green Food Hub Egypt Conference: H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation: “Green Food Hub in Egypt” Enhances Food Security Goals, Reduce Waste & Support Sustainable Infrastructure to Improve Value Chains in Partnership with the Private Sector

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat participated today, Monday, in the activities of launching the “Green Food Hub Egypt” project, which is implemented by the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, in partnership with the Ministry of International Cooperation and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). This was launched for the first time in Egypt, in the Ismailia Governorate, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ashmawy, First Assistant Minister of Supply and Internal Trade and Head of the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) and Clémence Vidal de la Blache, AFD Office Director.

The Ministry of International Cooperation holds a high-level coordination meeting to follow up on mobilizing innovative financing tools to implement renewable energy projects with a capacity of 10GW within the NWFE program in preparation for COP28 and with the participation of the Ministry of Electricity, the EBRD, the World Bank, Germany, the USA and relevant entities

The Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, held the first high-level coordination meeting to follow up on mobilizing innovative financing tools to finance the energy pillar within the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy platform (NWFE program), which aims to implement renewable energy projects with a capacity of 10GW, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

In light of its remarkable experience in debt swap with Germany and Italy. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation: “Egypt is the first country to sign a debt swap agreement for development with China International Development Cooperation Agency.”

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, the Minister of International Cooperation, stated that the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of debt swap between the Ministry of International Cooperation and China International Development Cooperation Agency reflects the strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries, bound by historical ties of friendship that date back to ancient history. She also affirmed the ongoing development of collaborative efforts under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to achieve shared development and benefit from China's experience in development.

Following the MoU Debt Swap Signing for Development with China: Ministry of International Cooperation: 120 projects have been & are being implemented with bilateral development partners through debt swap programs worth $730 million.

During the visit of H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, to China to participate in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Egypt and China signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in debt swaps for development. The memorandum of understanding was signed by H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Mr. Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), with the aim of exploring new horizons and areas of cooperation, to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, participates in the activities of the 10th edition of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Green Finance and Investment Forum in France, which is the main annual event of the organization’s Green Finance and Investment Center, as it includes policy makers and experts from various sectors institutions and representatives of the international community, to discuss the process of transition to a green and sustainable economy, through high-level sessions and bilateral meetings.

During H.E.’s visit to France to attend the Green Finance and Investment Forum organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Al-Mashat, met with the Minister of State for Development Cooperation of France, Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, in light of efforts to strengthen joint relations with multilateral and bilateral development partners.
