Bringing Everyone Together

By sitting at the same table, we can achieve our desired outcomes

The Multi-Stakeholder Platforms aim to strengthen dialogues and partnerships through regular interactive and participatory consultations with all development partners to achieve value-centric results. To rebuild better and more effectively amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation has been working to strengthen ‘Economic Diplomacy’ through three main principles: regularly organizing Multi-Stakeholder Platforms to ensure that all projects between development partners are streamlined and effectively aligned with the national agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); mapping ODA financing to SDGs for all projects with multilateral and bilateral development partners and adopting a consistent Global Partnerships Narrative People & Projects & Purpose (P&P&P).

As the first principle of Economic Diplomacy is Multi-Stakeholder Platforms, trust is the engine that drives development cooperation forward. And it is through sitting at the same decision-making table, that trust through transparency can be formed. In April 2020, we launched our first Multi-Stakeholder Platform “Global Partnerships for Effective Development Cooperation”, virtually with more than 100 participants and together, we were able to carefully pinpoint financing priorities and objectives across sectors including health.

The main objective of the platform is to strengthen partnerships for achieving value-centric results through regular interactive and participatory consultations with all development partners. It also ensures harmony and complementarity of development collaboration to maximize impact and achieve sustainability.

“The platform also provides an opportunity to capitalize on successes, learn from pitfalls and harness the power of group interaction.”

Ever since the launch of the platform, the Ministry of International Cooperation organized a number of participatory workshops in various sectors. The workshops focused on different areas related to the Health Sector, Public Enterprises, Private Sector Engagement in Development, Rural and Agricultural Development, Transportation and Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator.

Having Multi-Stakeholder Platform meetings creates an environment in which information on the objectives, frameworks, rationale and accountability is provided to all stakeholders in a comprehensible, accessible and timely manner.
