In implementation of the directives of H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat.. Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation holds a meeting with national entities to follow up on the implementation of the triangular cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq

The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation held a meeting with the relevant national entities regarding the follow-up on the implementation of the triangular cooperation mechanism between the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Iraq. This comes in implementation of the directives of H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, to follow up on efforts to develop and strengthen economic relations with sisterly and friendly countries, whether within the framework of the triangular cooperation mechanism or through joint committees.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation emphasized the importance of continuous follow-up on the agreements being implemented with sisterly and friendly countries through institutional cooperation frameworks, in implementation of the directives of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic. This aligns with the State’s commitment to achieving economic integration with sisterly Arab countries, realizing common interests, and continuing to work on the implementation of projects that enhance development efforts with other countries.

The meeting witnessed discussions on the latest developments regarding triangular cooperation across its six pillars: the industrial sector and the rehabilitation of Iraqi factories; cooperation in the field of energy; cooperation in agriculture, food security, and logistics zones; cooperation in passenger transportation among the three countries; cooperation within the Jordanian Joint Economic City; and cooperation in construction and building.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Industry and Transport; Investment and Foreign Trade; Electricity and Renewable Energy; Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Communications and Information Technology; Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; Higher Education; Civil Aviation; Supply and Internal Trade; the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency; the Civil Aviation Authority; the Customs Authority; the Federation of Egyptian Industries; and the Egyptian Drug Authority.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of continuing the operation of maritime routes between the ports of Nuweiba and Aqaba, as well as the transport of goods to and from Iraq by land through the Port of Aqaba, which is operating regularly. Discussions also addressed the trilateral electrical interconnection and the establishment of an e-commerce portal between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan to enable the electronic transmission of customs data, facilitate customs clearance procedures, and monitor containers among the three countries, in support of the intra-trade plan.

Further discussions included cooperation on the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the three countries; supporting an enabling environment for the start-up and growth of MSMEs through relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policies; and women’s economic empowerment aimed at enhancing access to economic resources and opportunities, increasing participation in the labor market and entrepreneurship, and ensuring access to sustainable income.

It was also agreed to invite the Egyptian side to participate alongside the Iraqi and Jordanian sides in the 8th edition of the Turathna Exhibition in 2026.
