H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, congratulated Egyptian diplomat Mr. Mina Rizk on his election as Chairman of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Council.
This comes after Ambassador Bassam Rady, Egypt's Ambassador to Italy and its Permanent Representative to UN organizations in Rome, announced Egypt's unanimous election as Chairman of the FAO Council of the global organization for a four-year term during the general session of the organization's General Conference.
The Egyptian Embassy in Rome nominated Counselor Mina Rizk, Deputy Permanent Representative of Egypt to FAO, for the position, making him the first Egyptian to chair the council in the organization's history.
H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat affirmed that this victory represents a culmination of the state's efforts and its effective role on the international stage, as well as the important role of Egyptian cadres in various international institutions in strengthening multilateral cooperation and supporting development efforts.
The Minister added that it also reflects the growing appreciation for Egypt's role on the international stage, especially in addressing current global challenges.
H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat noted that Egypt's victory in this position is a new diplomatic achievement and reflects the political leadership's keenness to promote Egypt's presence within international institutions and highlights national successes in implementing the sustainable development agenda.
H.E. Minister Al-Mashat emphasized the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation's commitment to continuing coordination with relevant international organizations, which contributes to supporting the Egyptian state's goals and achieving Egypt's Vision 2030. She pointed out that this achievement boosts confidence in the developmental vision adopted by Egypt.
