Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Meets with Students from Top UK Universities

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, welcomed a group of Master's and PhD students from prominent British universities in the United Kingdom, including the London School of Economics and Political Science, Oxford University, King's College London, and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

During the meeting, H.E. Minister Al-Mashat was keen to respond to students' inquiries regarding recent economic developments in Egypt, the state's efforts in implementing the "Haya Karima" project, comprehensive health insurance, and climate-smart agriculture projects.

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the state's commitment to providing and facilitating opportunities for youth engagement in public affairs and maintaining open communication channels with them. She also highlighted the importance of raising university students' awareness of the principles and goals of human and sustainable development and linking them to public policies and development projects undertaken by the Egyptian state.

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat also highlighted the Ministry's launch of the "Framework for Sustainability and Finance for Economic Development." This framework primarily aims to achieve economic development by enhancing evidence-based development policy formulation, optimizing resource utilization to bridge sectoral development gaps, and achieving qualitative and sustainable growth.

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat pointed out that the Ministry's vision is based on Egypt's Vision 2030, the National Structural Reforms Program, and the Egypt’s Integrated National Financing Strategy(E-INFS). This involves mobilizing sustainable finance to bridge the funding gap, which contributes to encouraging private investments and supporting the green transition. She noted that the Ministry is preparing the "National Economic Development Narrative" to drive growth and employment, focusing on vital sectors such as foreign direct investment, industrial development, macroeconomics, and the labor market and employment.

H.E. Minister Al-Mashat pointed to the strong partnerships between the Arab Republic of Egypt and international financial institutions and multilateral development banks. She reiterated that in light of Egypt's strong relations and the Ministry's endeavors to foster economic diplomacy, they are actively contributing to international forums to advance comprehensive dialogue towards expanding innovative financing mechanisms and restructuring the global financial system.

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat reaffirmed that, as a result of the state's efforts to create an investment climate conducive to the private sector, concessional financing for the private sector from international partners increased, exceeding government financing in 2024, reaching $4.2 billion.

Meanwhile, private sector financing from 2020 to 2024 totaled approximately $14.5 billion. She noted that these funds were directed to multiple sectors such as startups, technology and innovation, manufacturing, healthcare, green transformation, and transportation and logistics.
