During Her Participation in the World Urban Forum: Minister of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation, Discusses Bilateral Cooperation Opportunities with Bahraini Minister of Housing & Urban Planning

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with Amna bint Ahmed Al-Romaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the 12th World Urban Forum, held in Cairo under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic of Egypt, from November 4-8, 2024. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Cairo.



During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the deep, long-standing historical ties binding the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Bahrain. H.E. highlighted the collaboration between the two countries in several areas, especially in economic and investment sectors, expressing her hope to expand cooperation into additional fields.


The Minister of Planning and Economic Development discussed with the Bahraini Minister the work of the Egyptian-Bahraini Governmental Committee for Commercial, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation. The committee held its first meeting in November 2023, and reflects the keenness of both countries to enhance frameworks for cooperation and joint investments. H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the importance of increasing cooperation in various sectors between Egypt and Bahrain, in line with the memoranda of understanding and agreements signed between the two countries.


H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat also referred to preparations for the launch of the Arab Ministers of Planning Council, which aims to strengthen cooperation and integration among Arab countries in the fields of planning, economic and social development, and the exchange of experiences. The council will coordinate efforts among countries to develop comprehensive and sustainable development strategies that serve common interests and achieve economic and social goals for the Arab world.
