Within the Framework of Meetings With the House of Representatives: H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat Meets Major General Ahmed El-Awady, Chairman of the Defense and National Security & MP Ghada Al

- Minister of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation: The Government of Egypt is committed to advancing economic development efforts & achieving integration between local & international funding & resources to increase the efficiency of public investment. 

As part of its commitment to strengthening channels of communication with the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with Major General Ahmed El-Awady, Chairman of the Defense and National Security Committee of the House of Representatives, and MP Ghada Ali, representing the Youth Political Coordination, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abou Said, an expert in innovation, alternative energy technologies, and carbon sequestration. The meeting took place at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat welcomed the representatives from the House of Representatives, underscoring the crucial role the parliament plays in legislative matters, as well as in discussing and monitoring the implementation of economic and social development plans and executing international partnerships with multilateral and bilateral development partners. The meeting facilitated an exchange of views on the government’s current efforts to solidify macroeconomic stability and bolster development initiatives amid regional challenges and global economic tensions.

In her discussion with the Chairman of the Defense and National Security Committee, the Minister addressed aspects related to implementing investment projects across various governorates. She emphasized the government’s commitment to driving economic development efforts and integrating local and external financial resources to maximize investment efficiency and effectiveness. In this context, a financial formula is applied to distribute investments across different governorates based on diverse needs, priorities, and several dimensions that ensure fair distribution.

The Minister further highlighted the ongoing coordination within the economic ministerial group, led by the Prime Minister, to advance the economic and structural reform program and attract local and foreign investments.

In a related discussion with MP Ghada Ali, H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat explored mechanisms for optimizing grants and financing available from multilateral and bilateral development partners. She also stressed the oversight role of the parliament in ensuring maximum benefit from these funds and grants in line with national priorities.

During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Abou Said, a global expert in innovation and the development of technologies in the oil, gas, and alternative energy sectors as well as carbon sequestration, presented his efforts to reduce emissions and remove carbon. He emphasized the opportunities available in collaboration with development partners to implement projects that support the state’s efforts to transition to a green economy and reduce harmful gas emissions.
