At the Annual Meetings of the NDB of BRICS in Shanghai, China, Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat Meets with the Bank’s VPs to Study Mechanisms for Joint Cooperation Following Egypt’s Membership

During the annual meetings of the New Development Bank (NDB) in Shanghai, China, on May 30 and 31, Minister of International Cooperation and Alternate Governor of Egypt at the NDB H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat met with the Vice-Presidents of the Bank; Vladimir Kazbekov, the  Chief Operations Officer; Leslie Maasdorp, the Chief Financial Officer Anil Kishora, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Administrative Officer Qiangwu Zhou.

The meetings discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation with the bank in light of the official approval of Egypt's membership, and study of proposals activating this cooperation to reflect the exerted development efforts.

Al-Mashat discussed the NDB’s future cooperation with  Egypt,in light of the country’s long-standing relations with all multilateral and bilateral development partners and effective  multilateral cooperation.

H.E. emphasized the importance of the vital role played by multilateral development banks to support development on the global level, pointing out that there is diverse joint work and development cooperation efforts that can be implemented within the framework of the country's priorities and the bank's strategy for 2022-2026, through which it works to promote infrastructure solutions and sustainable development in emerging economies and developing countries.

Moreover, H.E. expressed the importance of enhancing joint work alongside the member states of the NDB and relevant stakeholders, to accelerate the pace of comprehensive and sustainable economic growth, in a way that stimulates common prosperity and efforts to mobilize resources to implement the SDGs.

Al-Mashat participated in the 8th Annual Meetings of NDB in Shanghai, China.  This comes in light of the role played by the Ministry of International Cooperation to strengthen development cooperation relations with multilateral and  bilateral development partners and to promote a national development vision that is consistent with the UN SDGs.
