Dr. Kevin Frey, Executive Director of the United Nations Global Initiative (Generation Unlimited), announced the selection of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, as part of the Global Council of Leaders of the Initiative, which brings together many decision makers and global economic leaders to support efforts through the Initiative to empower youth and mobilize resources for the implementation of the Initiative.
This came during the first meeting of the Advisory Council of the Egyptian version of the initiative, which was launched as " Youth of Country ", “ Shabab Balad” chaired by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Ms. Elena Banova, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Office in Egypt, as part as part of COP27, being held from 6 November until 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The Global Advisory Board of the Generation Unlimited Initiative is chaired by Ms. Catherine Rossell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, and Mr. Robert Moritz, President of Price Water House Global, as Co-Chair of the Initiative in addition to several eminent personalities.
The Shabab Balad / "Youth of a Country" initiative, the Egyptian version of the United Nations initiative “Generation Unlimited”, launched in more than 54 countries around the world, aims to support and empower young people in education, employment, entrepreneurship and participation, and comes in cooperation between the Government, the private sector and international financial institutions.
Ambassadors from young artists and sportsman stars were appointed to the "Shabab Balad" initiative, which represents the Egyptian version of the United Nations international initiative “Generation Unlimited” as the world's first partnership between the government sector, the private sector and youth aims to develop the skills of all the world's 1.8 billion young people aged 10 to 24, connect them to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and strengthen their positive social role by 2030.
The Strategic Framework for the Partnership for Sustainable Development between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Nations 2023-2027, which is the framework for cooperation between the two sides in the coming years, is to be announced shortly, enhancing national efforts to achieve Vision 2030 in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
