During the meeting, Al-Mashat highlighted the outcomes of the second edition of the Egypt - ICF, held under the patronage of  H.E. President Abdel Fattah Sisi, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the participation of  African Ministers of Economy, Finance and Environment. The Minister explained that the forum succeeded in drawing the international community’s attention to the African continent’s needs  for a just green transition, emphasizing the need to move from pledges to implementation, to meet financial commitments, and  to finance climate ambitions in developing and emerging economies.

Al-Mashat stressed that the Egypt - ICF reflects the state’s commitment in pushing Africa’s climate agenda through international partnerships, incentivizing mechanisms for achieving sustainable development.

Moreover, the Minister discussed Egypt’s Country Platform for the NWFE Program, launched as part of Egypt’s COP27 preparations. This program is a nexus of water, food and energy projects, reflecting  the close coherence and priority of the three sectors, to promote adaptation and mitigation efforts, and to expand new and renewable energy projects, such as the Benban Solar Park in Aswan.

Currently, Egypt is working to finalize the United Nations Strategic Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023 -2027, building on the efforts achieved in the United Nations Partnership Development Framework 2018 - 2022 (UNPDF). The upcoming UNSDCF encompasses 5 main goals: investing in human capital, inclusive economic development, environmental sustainability, transparency and good governance, and empowering women and girls.

The Minister is participating in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), held in New York, under the theme, “A Watershed Moment: Transformative Solutions to Interlocking Challenges”, to address the triple crises of COVID-19, climate change and Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The meetings discuss a number of important topics, notably food insecurity, energy prices and disruptions to global supply chains.

Recently, the Ministry of International Cooperation, in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Environment, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, organized the second edition of the Egypt-International Cooperation Forum (Egypt-ICF), and the meeting of African Ministers of Economy, Finance and Environment, under the auspices and presence of H.E.
