Counselor Essam El-Din Farid, Speaker of the Senate, today received H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, at the Senate headquarters, within the framework of strengthening coordination and cooperation between the executive and legislative branches.
The meeting was attended by Major General Ahmed Al-Awadi, Deputy Speaker of the Senate; Counselor Ahmed Mohamed Abdel-Ghani, Secretary-General of the Senate; and Dr. Mohamed Kamal, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat extended her congratulations to the Speaker of the Senate on the formation of the new Council, wishing him and the esteemed members of the Senate success in carrying out their national responsibilities. She emphasized the important role played by the Senate in supporting the legislative process and strengthening the public policymaking system in the State.
The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation reaffirmed the Ministry’s keenness to continue cooperation and integration with the Senate, as a key partner in discussing and supporting development policies and plans, in a manner that contributes to achieving development objectives.
For his part, Counselor Essam El-Din Farid, Speaker of the Senate, underscored the importance of enhancing coordination with the Government during the coming period, stressing the vital role of the Senate in studying and discussing draft laws, plans, and strategies that affect citizens’ lives and support the State’s efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development.
