At the
8th Annual Meetings of the New Development Bank (NDB) of the BRICS bloc, held
in Shanghai, China, the Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A.
Al-Mashat met with the Russian Minister of Finance and Governor of Russia at
the NDB, Dr. Anton Siluanov, the International Affairs Officer at the Brazilian
Ministry of Finance Dr. Tatiana Roseto, and the Minister of Finance and
Governor of South Africa at the NDB, Dr. David Masondo. The meetings witnessed
discussions on efforts to enhance the exchange of experiences between member
countries, the strategic objectives of the NDB and its role in supporting
developing countries and emerging economies.
Al-Mashat
expressed her appreciation for Egypt's accession to the membership of the NDB
and her aspiration that joint work with the bank and member states would result
in more development cooperation programs and partnerships that stimulate
development efforts and enhance the ability for emerging countries to face the
current global challenges, and support south-south cooperation.
In
meetings with the NDB Governors and founding members: Russia, Brazil and South
Africa, H.E. discussed the strategic objectives of the bank in light of its
strategy for the next five years. H.E. stressed the importance of
strengthening blended financing efforts and stimulating mechanisms available to
support the private sector in developing countries and emerging economies, as
well as strengthening its role in achieving regional cooperation and
integration by investing in infrastructure and various sectors to enhance the
resilience of countries in facing global challenges.
Al-Mashat
indicated the importance of strengthening cooperation at the bilateral level
between member states to advance efforts to exchange knowledge and experiences
and benefit from development experiences, in a way that accelerates the
implementation of the SDGs H.E. pointed to the Egyptian experience in
international cooperation and development financing and close relations with
multilateral and bilateral development partners based on national objectives,
in line with the SDGs.
In
a related context, Al-Mashat met with the Alternate Governor of Bangladesh at
the NDB Sharifa Khan where they discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation
under the umbrella of south-south cooperation to support development efforts
and climate action.
Al-Mashat participated in the 8th Annual Meetings of NDB in Shanghai, China. This comes in light of the role played by the Ministry of International Cooperation to strengthen development cooperation relations with multilateral and bilateral development partners and to promote a national development vision that is consistent with the UN SDGs.
