Today, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, will launch her new book titled “Stakeholder Engagement Through Economic Diplomacy”, published by London School of Economics, amongst several eminent international economic figures and institutions. The book documents Egypt’s pioneering experience in the field of international cooperation and development financing, consolidating Egypt’s principles of economic diplomacy upon which the Ministry of International Cooperation rests. It further reviews the efforts undertaken by the Ministry to launch an institutional framework for economic diplomacy to bring together the stakeholders involved, to push towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The international book launch event takes place in the presence of Ms. Minouche Shafik, Director of the London School of Economics; Ms. Carmen Reinhart, Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank Group and Professor at Harvard University; and Mr. Eric Berglöf, Chief Economist at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank; along with representatives from the United Nations, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and many other international financial institutions. The book presents modern international methodologies in the field of international cooperation and development work, and how the Ministry of International Cooperation successfully managed to implement these methodologies in Egypt, thus maximizing the impactful international partnerships with multilateral and bilateral development partners and accelerating the actualization of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the global sustainability goals. H.E. Al-Mashat will as well launch, during the press conference, the ODA-SDG mapping exercise on the Ministry’s website to showcase the international cooperation portfolio with the detailed allocation of the $25 billion development financing across the 377 projects. Few days earlier, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, presented to H.E. the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the efforts invested in curating the content of the book in order to document Egypt’s pioneering experience in international cooperation and development financing, crafting a model for other emerging and developing countries; especially that Egypt one of the few countries that were able to stay the course in the implementation of the global sustainability targets, mitigating the socioeconomic challenges in the last few years.
