The Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank Group (WBG) H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat participated in the round table organized by the Rockefeller Foundation and the Open Society Foundations, within the activities of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings in Washington, to discuss multilateral development bank reforms, the escalating global debt crisis, development efforts and climate action.

The Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the World Bank Group H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, said that mobilizing resources from various relevant parties to finance climate change has become crucial, in order to face global challenges. H.E. pointed out that despite the challenges posed by climate change, financing is still at levels less than required, which highlights the need for innovative financing mechanisms.

Al-Mashat, participated in the high-level round table organized by Janet Yellen, United States Secretary of the Treasury, on developing the role of the World Bank, the largest multilateral development bank, with the participation of David Malpass, President of the WBG, finance and development ministers from Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Congo, Japan, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and Uruguay, as well as the executive directors of the World Bank.

Under the theme “The Way Forward: Building Resilience and Reshaping Development,” the 2023 WBG & IMF Spring Meetings will begin today, Monday, in Washington, DC, with the participation of H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the WBG. H.E. is scheduled to speak at a number of events and discussion sessions, and to hold a number of bilateral meetings with multilateral and bilateral development partners.

"International Cooperation" and "National Planning" Hold Multi-Stakeholder Platform to Discuss Partnerships with International Institutions to Enhance the Institute's Role in Supporting Sustainable Development Efforts.

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning (INP), held a Multi-Stakeholder Platform meeting with multilateral and bilateral development partners, to discuss partnerships with international institutions in light of strengthening INP’s role in research studies, consulting, training and vocational and academic training, as well as planning and development, with the participation of Elena Panova, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, representatives of the World Bank Group (WBG), FAO, UNESCO, UNDP, USAID, UNICEF, UN Women and a number of representatives from embassies and other international organizations.
