The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat witnessed the signing of a financing agreement between the Saudi Grant Management Committee and MSMEDA, at a value of 150 million EGP, to contribute to the financing of MSMEs, on the sidelines of the committee’s meetings in Cairo that were held over the course of three days, at the headquarters of the Ministry of International Cooperation from 11 to 13 June 2023.

In line with the cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries, and after South Korea chose Egypt to become the strategic partner in the field of development cooperation for the next five years, a development financing agreement worth $460 million for the implementation of the manufacturing and supplying 40 train units (320 wagons) for the 2nd and 3rd lines of the Greater Cairo Metro project, through the concessional financing window provided through the Korean Cooperation Fund for Economic Development of the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

Dr. Rania A.Al-Mashat announced that in light of the Government of Egypt’s vision to strengthen economic relations with multilateral and bilateral development partners at the regional and international levels and to mobilize efforts to achieve economic development in all sectors, the Ministry of International Cooperation is developing an integrated framework for development cooperation that acts as an umbrella under which all strategies with multilateral and bilateral development partners are involved. This is a way to enhance integration efforts, maximize the use of development funds in meeting the country’s priorities, stimulate the principles of transparency, inclusiveness and integration, maximize the use of concessional development funds to achieve development, promote climate action and expand mechanisms of private sector support.

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat said that the ongoing development cooperation portfolio of the Ministry of International Cooperation includes 169 projects implemented in various development sectors through non-refundable development grants worth $3.4 billion, distributed by 23% for the housing and utilities sector, 15% for scientific research and higher education, 13% for supporting the efficiency of the Government of Egypt’s administrative apparatus, 8% for education and technical education and 41% for other sectors.

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat witnessed the graduation of the first batch of the technical support program for the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA), which includes 8 startups in the field of energy, blue economy, manufacturing and circular economy, agriculture and land use, and waste management. This is in light of the partnership between Egypt and the UK to promote climate action by providing technical assistance and support to startups and environmentally friendly projects.
