Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat Witnesses the Signing of the UNFPA CPD 2023-2027

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat said that the Country Partnership Document (CPD) with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) 2023-2027 falls under the umbrella of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). The partnership forms cooperation programs with the government in a way that reflects national needs and priorities, specifically in the areas of gender equality and developing the capacities of adolescents and youth. H.E. noted that with the launch of the CPD for national consultations in November 2021, the Ministry of International Cooperation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked side by side with the UNFPA to ensure that the document is consistent with national priorities related to equal opportunities for gender, and empowering youth to accelerate the pace of sustainable development.

In line with the cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries, and after South Korea chose Egypt to become the strategic partner in the field of development cooperation for the next five years, a development financing agreement worth $460 million for the implementation of the manufacturing and supplying 40 train units (320 wagons) for the 2nd and 3rd lines of the Greater Cairo Metro project, through the concessional financing window provided through the Korean Cooperation Fund for Economic Development of the Export-Import Bank of Korea.
