"Al-Mashat": Intensifying follow-up efforts to activate the MoUs and cooperation documents signed during the 33rd session of the Joint Higher Committee

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, extended her thanks to Eng. Yarub Falah Al-Qudah, the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, for his continuous coordination and follow-up over the past year to conclude the activities of the 33rd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, which is chaired by the prime ministers of both countries. The two ministers co-chair the committee's preparatory meetings at the ministerial level.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation affirmed that the success of the current session's activities reflects the keenness of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and H.M. King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to continue developing joint relations at all levels, particularly in trade exchange and joint investments, which are reflected in economic growth and employment in the two brotherly countries.

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat praised the outcomes of the current session, which resulted in the signing of nine joint cooperation documents in several developmental fields. She stressed that the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation will work with the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply on continuous follow-up with the relevant authorities to activate these agreements and MoUs, and to overcome all challenges for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation lauded the historical relations between the two countries and the cultural, religious, and national ties that bind them. She noted their shared location in the heart of the ancient world, which makes Egypt a gateway for Jordan to Africa and Jordan a gateway for Egypt to Asia.

The Minister also commended the achievements made since the 32nd session of the Higher Committee was held in Cairo from May 7-9, 2024, until today. She mentioned that this serves as a clear example of cooperation, coordination, and integration between the two countries.

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat also emphasized the importance of doubling efforts to achieve further progress in these areas. The most important of these achievements included holding several technical committee meetings and visits between the two sides in the following fields: agriculture, land transport, maritime transport, civil aviation, housing, medicine, labor, social solidarity, water resources and irrigation, small and medium enterprises, administrative organization, and the stock exchange.

During the 33rd session of the Joint Higher Committee, the following were signed: the executive program to activate the MoU signed between the Ministry of Awqaf of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; the executive program between the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Jordanian Group for Free and Development Zones in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the year 2025/2026; MoU in the field of consumer protection; MoU on mutual cooperation in the field of local development; a cooperation agreement in the field of protecting and recovering cultural property and combating the illicit trafficking of antiquities; and the executive program for the scientific cooperation agreement between the National Planning Institute of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
