Al-Mashat conveys the greetings of H.E.President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Korean President and his hopes that the summit will establish strong foundations for Korean-African relations

Today, the work of the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit began, which is being held in the Korean capital, Seoul, with the participation of H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, on behalf of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The summit includes the participation of delegations of 48 countries, including 25 heads of state of the continent, as well as representatives of the African Union, the African Development Bank, the African Free Trade Agreement, and representatives of the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

During his reception of the participating African delegations, Mr. Yoon Suk-Yul, the Korean President, received H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, who conveyed the greetings of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Korean President, and his hopes that the summit would establish strong foundations for joint Korean-African relations, thus advancing the efforts to develop and meet its requirements on the continent.

The summit will be chaired by Mr. Yoon Suk-Yul, President of South Korea, as well as the President of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould El-Ghazouani.

The summit is themed: “The Future We Make Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability & Solidarity", and aims to strengthen the partnership between the Republic of South Korea and the countries of the African continent, and to enhance joint work to support development efforts on the continent.

The Korea-Africa Summit works to lay the foundations for close cooperation between the countries of the African continent and South Korea, and to build on the cooperation achieved since the beginning of joint relations in 1950, especially in light of the complex challenges faced by development efforts in various countries of the world.

The summit also aims to consolidate joint cooperation between South Korea and the continent of Africa, and achieve integration between development efforts in Korea as a pivotal country, as well as the development goals of the African Union and Africa Agenda 2063.

The Minister of International Cooperation is scheduled to deliver a speech before the summit, and there will also issue a final statement on the most important things that were agreed upon during its activities.
