Development partners and international institutions applaud the country’s efforts to begin implementing the pledges of the NWFE program.
Emphasizing the importance of partnering with the government to accelerate the pace of climate investments and reiterating the commitment to move forward in implementing the program’s projects.
The Ministry of International Cooperation recently held a high-level roundtable to launch the first follow-up progress report on the NWFE program, presenting the progress achieved in the water, food, energy and sustainable transport sectors, and the joint coordination efforts that took place across the year with multilateral and bilateral development partners, government entities, the private sector, and global alliances in the field of climate action.
The progress report“A Year of Implementation,” received wide international applaud from multilateral and bilateral development partners and international organizations in the field of climate action, emphasizing the intensive efforts that were made over the course of a year and the coordination between various relevant entities from the governmental, private sectors, international institutions and major development partners for each pillar of the program, in order to communicate the desired results. It also emphasizes Egypt’s commitment to moving from pledges to implementation, and achieving the goals of Egypt's Climate Change Strategy and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
It is worth noting that at the conclusion of the high-level round table held by the Ministry of International Cooperation, in the presence of H.E. the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, on the NWFE program, the Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, announced the issuance of a joint communiquéthat was made in coordination with 20 development partners, international financing institutions and global alliances in the field of climate action. The communiqué includes applause from these institutions for the intensive efforts made by the Government of Egypt to fulfill its pledges in the climate agenda, especially updating the NDCs, which contributed to implementing the goals of the NWFE program.
