H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat Arrives in Japan to Celebrate 70 Years of Egyptian-Japanese Development Cooperation

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, has arrived in Japan to participate in celebrations commemorating 70 years of development cooperation between Egypt and Japan. This milestone reflects the deep and enduring partnership between the two nations, which has significantly contributed to Egypt’s sustainable development agenda and mutual economic growth.

The program for H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat’s visit is set to include several high-level events and discussions with senior officials from the Japanese government. These engagements will focus on strengthening bilateral ties, exploring new areas of cooperation, and identifying shared priorities to deepen the partnership between the two countries in the years to come.

Relations between Egypt and Japan have reached unprecedented levels of collaboration under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Elevated to the status of a strategic partnership, these ties reflect a shared commitment to fostering economic and cultural exchange. The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation is dedicated to bolstering these relations to align with the aspirations of the two countries’ leadership and to enhance mutual benefits across various sectors.

In her remarks, Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the great importance that Egypt places on economic relations with Japan at both the governmental and public levels, which have spanned decades and reflect the strength of partnerships in achieving shared visions and mutual interests. She also highlighted the importance of multilateral cooperation in advancing development efforts.

The Minister also highlighted the robust relationship with Japan and the efforts made in various development fields, aligning with Egypt's vision and priorities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030. She particularly highlighted the development of healthcare services and the mobilization of resources to implement the comprehensive health insurance project, commending the partnership with the Japanese government in this regard.

The Minister further noted that while 2024 marks 70 years of official development cooperation between Egypt and Japan, the relationship is grounded in a much longer history of cultural and economic exchanges. This deep-rooted historical partnership reflects the diversity and richness of their shared experiences, encompassing initiatives that have shaped key sectors such as energy, technology, and human capital development.
