Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat: It is necessary to leverage the Institute of National Planning’s (INP) potential to enhance the effectiveness of development plans in priority sectors.
Dr. Ashraf El Araby reviews the strategy and vision of the Institute of National Planning (INP) to become an influential intellectual, research and development center in Egypt and the region.
H.E Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of National Planning (INP), held the first meeting with Dr. Ashraf El Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning, as part of her meetings with the Ministry’s affiliated entities.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Abu Al-Ayoun, Head of the Center of Data Analytics & Consultancy CDAC, Dr. Ashraf Salah El-Din,Vice President of INP for Training & Consultations and Community Service, and Dr. Khaled Attia, Vice President of the INP for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Khaled Zakaria, Director of Macroeconomics Policies Center, Dr. Hala Abou-Ali, Head of the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Dr. Ali Al-Bagalaty, general secretary, and Dr. Dalia Ibrahim, Director of the Technical Office.
During the meeting, Al-Mashat highlighted the important role played by the INP in promoting the approach and thinking of scientific planning in Egypt and the Arab region through research, training and educational activities, and dissemination of thought and planning work in all Egyptian institutions, in addition to supporting the culture of planning in Egyptian society. Al-Mashat also noted the development and diversity in the activities provided by the Institute during the recent period.
Al-Mashat emphasized that the INP’s strategy included expanding and diversifying the competitive advisory services it provides to governmental, private, civil and international entities, in addition to strengthening the presence of the institute nationally, regionally and internationally through effective and distinguished partnerships. In addition to developing the Institute’s human and material resources, as well as strengthening institutional and technological frameworks, to enhance financial sustainability, quality, governance and community service activities.
For his part, Dr. Ashraf El Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning, welcomed H.E.. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation and Chairperson of the Institute’s Board of Directors, in her first meeting with the Institute’s work team, congratulated her on the renewed confidence in the current government.
The President of the Institute of National Planning INP reviewed the role played by the Institute since its inception in 1960, and its development over decades, becoming an influential and pioneering intellectual, research and development center in Egypt and the region, through its various services at the level of training, research, education, advisory, community and evidence-based competitiveness. Noting that the Institute of National Planning INP has 8 scientific centers specialized in macroeconomic policies, international economic relations, environmental planning and development, agricultural planning and development, industrial planning and development, regional development, planning methods, and social and cultural planning.
In addition to 5 specialized units, the Center of Data Analytics & Consultancy (CDAC), the North Africa Applied Systems Analysis Center (NAASAC), the Modeling Unit, the Economic Governance Unit, and the Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit, pointing out that the institute provides a number of scientific outputs and reports, academic publications, and a series of policy papers focusing on planning and development issues, in addition to meetings and events that are held periodically with experts.
He also addressed the Institute's cooperation with various international partners, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the European Union and the United States Agency for Development (USAID), in several studies and research topics that serve the state's development vision in various fields, including the preparation of the Human Development Report.
