Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat Holds Bilateral Meeting with the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development & Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX) on Strengthening Future Cooperation

The Minister of International Cooperation H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat  held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX), to discuss strengthening future cooperation efforts in light of the Egyptian-Emirati relations and supporting development cooperation efforts.

At the outset of the meeting, Al-Mashat welcomed Al Suwaidi and expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the Fund to support development efforts in Egypt and the close relations spanning across decades. The Minister also thanked the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and ADEX for the fruitful cooperation and continuous communication over the past period, in light of the financing agreement to finance wheat imports at a value of $100 million for a period of 5 years, with a total of $500 million.

The Minister discussed with the Emirati official areas of future cooperation in light of the country's priorities and its endeavor to stimulate sustainable development efforts through international partnerships, building on the existing and well-established cooperation with the UAE, in a way that maximizes mutual benefit and enhances development efforts.

The Minister referred to the effective role of development cooperation between Egypt and the UAE through joint cooperation with a diverse portfolio worth more than $2 billion, through which many projects were implemented in the field of food security, infrastructure, energy, among others.

Moreover, the Minister reviewed joint efforts with development partners to stimulate private sector participation in development through facilitated development funds through international financing institutions. The meeting also touched on discussing the national platform for green projects, the NWFE program, which was launched during COP27 with the aim of stimulating investments, also in line with  National Climate Change Strategy 2050 and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

Al-Mashat stated that in light of the UAE's hosting of the COP28 Climate Conference, it represents a continuation of international efforts to advance climate action in the region and the world as well, noting that the conference will witness the announcement of the results of international partnerships and efforts made over a year throughout Egypt's COP27 presidency to mobilize climate investments  for the NWFE programme.
