The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr met with the Belgian Ambassador to Cairo Sibille de Cartier at MIIC premises.
Both sides discussed enhancing economic relations between both countries and increasing Belgian investments in Egypt, given that the number of Belgian companies in Egypt reached 186 with a capital of USD 672 million. 
The Minister emphasized that Egypt was an open market to Belgian investments, noting that the new Investment Law provided for several incentives for investors and that the Law’s executive regulations was underway in coordination with other ministries so as to be submitted to the cabinet and be issued by PM Eng. Sheriff Ismael. 
On her part, Ambassador de Cartier asserted that there were several cooperation areas and between Egypt and Belgium, while referring to Belgian companies’ keenness on considering available investment opportunities, increase the volume of joint investments, open distinguished markets in Egypt and reinforce bilateral relations. 
Both sides further discussed financing projects under the debt swap agreement in light of the Egyptian government’s efforts with its development partners, within the framework of converting debts into development projects that would contribute to providing youth with job opportunities.
