The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr met with Head of the International Labor Organization's (ILO) mission to Egypt and Global Operations Manager for the Better Work Program Mr. Conor Boyle, in presence of ILO Director Peter Van Rooij. 
Both sides discussed Egypt's joining of the Better Work Program being implemented by the ILO, where Mr. Boyle emphasized ILO's keenness on Egypt's joining of the Program, while noting that the purpose of the mission was to discuss relevant necessary procedures. He added that the Program was being implemented in seven countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, Haiti, Indonesia, Jordan, Nicaragua and Vietnam. It further deals with 2 million laborers in 1500 factories and has strengthened relations with about 35 companies out of 100 major global companies in America, Europe and Japan. 
Mr. Boyle commended MIIC's efforts in taking the procedures necessary to improve the investment climate. Within this framework, both sides discussed the implementation of long and short-term joint plans between MIIC and the ILO in order to create an attractive investment environment. 
The Minister mentioned that MIIC worked on improving the governance indicators in coordination with the Administrative Control Authority (ACA), while reiterating MIIC's keenness on improving foreign investment, especially in lagging regions. She commended the Better Work Program which aims to improve work conditions and enhance competitiveness of the global supply chains in the garment sector.
