The Minister of International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr received the new South Korean Ambassador to Cairo Mr. Yoon- Soon-Gu.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Korean Ambassador, congratulating him for his new post and expressing appreciation of the Egyptian government and leadership for economic relations with South Korea, which was reflected in President el-Sisi’s visit to Seoul in March 2016 and the signature of several agreements and MOUs between both sides for cooperation in various development areas such as education, electricity, energy and transport nationwide.
The Minister and the Korean Ambassador discussed joint ongoing projects such as the development of Naga Hammadi- Luxor railway signaling system along 118 Km, which aims to decrease train accidents through the adoption of the Korean high technology in the field.
Both sides further discussed the provision of a USD 6 million grant in the technical education field to establish the Egyptian-Korean Faculty for Technology, which aims to graduate a new technically skilled generation capable of competing in the international labor market.
For his part, the Korean Ambassador expressed his appreciation of MoIC’s significant role in overcoming any obstacles that may hinder the implementation of projects. The Minister, accordingly, emphasized the government’s keenness on enhancing distinguished relations with South Korea and its aspirations for further cooperation in all fields between both countries.
