Historical Background

The Egyptian Algerian Joint Commission is co-chaired by both Prime Ministers and is held annually and hosted alternately in Cairo and Algeria.  The Commission is an important mechanism for developing bilateral cooperation in various fields. Seven sessions were held, the last of which convened in Cairo on 11-14 November 2014. During this last session it was agreed to develop the appropriate formulas to enhance cooperation in economic, trade, investment, scientific, health and cultural fields that would serve the common interests of both countries.

The following deeds were signed at the seventh session of the Joint Commission held in Cairo on 11-14 November 2014:
1. Memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of veterinary services.
2. Executive program for cooperation in the field of youth.
3. Executive program for cooperation in the field of sports.
4. Executive program for cooperation in the field of higher education.
5. Memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of construction and maintenance of airports infrastructure.
6. Cooperation agreement in the field of the media (radio and television).
7. Executive program for cultural cooperation.
8. Memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the Algerian and Egyptian stock exchange.
9. Memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of insurance and reinsurance.
10. Cooperation agreement between the Algerian Press Service (APS) and the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
11. Executive program for cooperation in the field of tourism and traditional industries.
12. Executive program for cooperation in the field of employment and manpower.
13. Memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of vocational training.
