The Joint Committee between Egypt and Lithuania

Historical Background

Egypt and Lithuania aspire to foster bilateral economic relations through the establishment of the Joint Committee between both countries as well as concluding agreements on economic cooperation in different fields. The first session of the Joint Committee on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Cairo on 2-6 May 1998.

Sessions Held

Important Recommendations /Agreements Signed at the Last Session:

At the first session of the Joint Committee, both sides discussed ways to promote economic cooperation and trade.  They explored opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture, transportation, industry, tourism, education and culture.   The two countries initialed a draft agreement on the promotion and protection of investors and a draft agreement on cultural cooperation. They also discussed  other  cooperation agreements, namely the draft agreement on cooperation in the field of education, the draft agreement on cooperation in the field of maritime transport, the draft agreement on cooperation between the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce  Federation and the Lithuanian Trade and Industrial Chambers (signed in October 2006) and the draft agreement on cooperation between the Federation of Egyptian Industries and its Lithuanian counterpart.
